How To Measure Yourself - Size Guide

Bodice - Front

  • Chest measurement taken at underarm all the
    way across the actual bust
  • Bodice length taken from where the shoulder
joins the neck to the length you require (usually
    just above the hip bone)

TIP: You need to keep the point where the
bodice ends because this marks where you
will take the waist measurement. I get the
child I am measuring to put their finger there
to keep the point marked throughout. You
will need this marker for the skirt also.

  • Waist measurement is taken at where the
bodice ends(where you have marked) all the
    way around.

Skirt

  • Measure from where the bodice ends to the
required length which is usually about 2ins shorter
than the bodice length, but will vary depending on
    height.

Bodice - Back

  • Shoulder width - measure across the shoulder
blades in line with the top of the shoulder.
  • Bodice back length - measure in the same
way as the front side of neck to where the bodice
ends. (this may differ slightly from front depending
on bust size, although it may be the same)

  • Measure from the tip of the shoulder down the
straight arm to required length (usually about 1
inch above knuckles with fist clenched)
